"Since gaining employment with Gael Force I have had the chance to experience many different aspects of a business. Starting as a graduate placement I have been helped in the right direction to achieving my career goals. This has come from the diversity of tasks allowing me to gain the required experience.

From the development of existing and new products to working in the west fjords of Iceland installing equipment, to the other extreme, attending trade shows and talking to customers about what our company does and what it could do for them."

"My job as Website Administrator affords me the opportunity to take on a wide range of tasks from creating content for our multiple websites or the blog to managing our social media platforms and email marketing. I love the fact that no one day is the same.

Working in the Marketing Team means I can appreciate and contribute to the purpose and direction of Gael Force and have my suggestions heard. I'm always encouraged to take training opportunities when they arise to develop my skills and try new things."

"Being a keen sailor, I was eager to work in the leisure marine sector and when a position became available at Gael Force, I jumped at it.

Since joining as a Sales Assistant, I have been able to gain new skills through diverse training opportunities, including a Management HNC.

Now as the Marine Centre Supervisor, I'm involved in all aspects of marine equipment supply, from building relationships with customers and liaising with the supply chain team to developing new sales strategies - every day brings a new challenge!"

Joined Gael Force: 2015.

"Towards the end of my studies at UHI, I was lucky enough to gain a job at Gael Force in a graduate engineering role. In the beginning, it was all new to me and I was incredibly lucky to have guidance from colleagues, who would take their time to show me previous & current builds, explaining the designs and reasoning behind them.

This sort of guidance has allowed me to progress my career and become one of their Design & Project Engineers. I feel it's vital to have a job you can not only enjoy but have a clear career path in. Gael Force has been able to offer me this and I look forward to seeing where they can take me."

Stephen Offord
Group Production Director

Gael Force Engineering
Inverness
Joined Gael Force: 2015.

"Life before Gael Force was as an Aircraft Engineering Officer with the Royal Navy. Every skill I gained through that career has certainly been put to the test during my time at Gael Force!

Every day is different! One day I might be involved in design and planning in relation to products as diverse as concrete barges to underwater cameras. The next I might be preparing for an overseas trade show or planning budgets for the following year; there is never a dull day!

The great thing is it is not just a desk job. My job takes me out and about from the far-flung corners of the UK to Norway and further afield as the business grows.

It is a really exciting time to be part of Gael Force Group. The rapid expansion, increase in product range, engineering development work and export drive brings opportunity at all levels. In particular it provides opportunity for career growth and diversification within the Group."

Rhuaraidh Edwards
Product Development Engineer

Gael Force Fusion
Oban
Joined Gael Force: 2011.

"Having graduated from Product Design Engineering at Strathclyde University, I secured a job with Gael Force Fusion as a development engineer focusing on design and development of highly sophisticated plastic pen systems and associated products.

My role initially included the generation of 3D drawings and aiding small development projects, and eventually grew into a more external technical development and sales role.

More than seven years on and my job has provided me with the opportunity to travel nationally and internationally to engage with customers.

On a daily basis, I work to solve existing customer challenges and I am often developing new methods/products to help improve their day to day operations in very challenging and demanding farming locations.

There are many benefits of working within Gael Force Group, one of which being that there are multiple routes for career development and progression across different sectors.  With a high level of innovation in the aquaculture industry, the opportunities for growth and development in a role at Gael Force are wide-ranging. We also have the opportunity to expose ourselves to other areas of the business in cross-department projects like combining high-level electrical technology with heavy-duty engineering.

Coming from the west coast originally it has been great to move back, to settle and work in the Oban area. Historically there have been very few opportunities to work on the west coast of Scotland and apply design engineering degrees. Oban is often referred to as the “gateway to the isles” meaning there is an abundance of outdoor and social activities right on our doorstep which isn’t possible in many jobs like this."
