Thomas Telford Corpach Marina is go!

As reported last year, we were over the moon to have been selected by Caol Regeneration Company to construct the third and final phase of its Thomas Telford Corpach Marina project.

One year on and with the hard work and determination of our engineering team, the Marina was completed in time for the official opening by HRH Princess Royal on 18th April under the glistening spring Lochaber sunshine.

It has been eight years in the making for the full marina project and associated facilities.

The contract delivered a forty-berth marina with additional space for smaller boats, comprising SeaHaven floating breakwaters, pontoons, and an all-ability access gangway. The gangway conforms to a maximum gradient of 12:1 for non-restricted access.

The full layout has a fully sheltered, all-weather marina and public slipway, with a car park for marina users.  With berths for up to 45 yachts and motor vessels plus a handful of small day boats which can float in very shallow water.

The breakwaters have handrails along the middle of the 4m width with regular lighting, power, and freshwater points along their lengths.

The earlier phases of the project saw the development of a new facilities building adjacent and to the North of the sea lock.

This element of the project houses An Cafaidh Mara, toilets and showers. At the marina itself, new direct job opportunities have been created, as well as indirect jobs in tourism and marine businesses.

A much-improved access to the water environment for healthy lifestyles as well as a strengthening of Lochaber’s brand as “The Outdoor Capital of the UK”.

Stephen Offord meets Princess Anne. Three other men and two other women are present.

Stephen Offord, Gael Force Group Production Director, said, “We are delighted that the team at Caol Regeneration Company placed their confidence in us as an experienced local pontoon manufacturer in the Highlands, to support them in realising their long-held ambition for an excellent local marina facility.

Our robust range of SeaHaven pontoons and breakwaters will provide a safe haven for visiting and local leisure craft alike. Our team should take great pride when looking back on our involvement in this project."
