Restoring customer operations during Storm Amy

At Gael Force, our reputation for exceptional customer care is built on a foundation of reliability.
This is not only the hallmark of our equipment and technology, but it also underpins our entire service offering. For our customers, this means confidence that when challenges arise, they have a trusted supply partner ready to respond.
When Storm Amy hit earlier in the month, it put this commitment to the test. With high winds and heavy rain, the storm’s conditions demanded the very best from our team of expert engineers.
Aquaculture Support and Pen Maintenance
Operating in remote and exposed environments demands equipment that performs reliably, and support services you can count on. That’s why our aquaculture support team delivers a rapid response within 24 hours for mainland sites and 48 hours for island locations.
Although our equipment is designed for strength and longevity, we understand the elements can still cause disruption. When this happens, our customers know that help is only a phone call away.
To ensure ongoing reliability, customers receive comprehensive manuals and certified training, so farm technicians are fully competent in operating and maintaining their systems.
As part of our Service Level Agreements, structured on-site reviews and seasonal reminders help ensure equipment remains secure, particularly during severe weather. This proactive approach helps prevent costly downtime and maintain productivity.

Storm Amy
During Storm Amy, an aquaculture customer in Orkney experienced a critical outage when water entered a transmitter, disrupting feed cameras across pens. This was a serious issue at this time of year when daylight hours are reduced.
Within hours, our support team was on hand. Engineers in Inverness and Forres collaborated to design and modify a bespoke control box, which was couriered overnight to Kirkwall.
A workboat was organised by the site manager at Westray to pick up our engineer and the parts, as no ferry service was available, enabling us to get to the remote site promptly. Within 48 hours, the issue was fully resolved, demonstrating our service guarantee in action and effective partnership working.

Advice for Site Managers
Routine servicing plays a crucial role in preventing disruption, from cleaning generator filters to replacing anodes and maintaining cooling systems.
During winter, ensure that lighting is operational, and when storms approach, secure hatches and seal vents.

Our commitment
Reliability doesn’t stop at our equipment; it extends to every part of our service. Our 24/7 customer care and exceptional response times mean our customers can depend on a support partner that is responsive and trustworthy.
